Wheatus + MC Lars @ Warehouse 23

Both MC Lars and Wheatus (and the support acts) put on a great show at Wakefield's one and only live music venue, Warehouse 23.

Returning to the UK after playing at the Slamdunk festival earlier in the year, MC Lars has joined forces with Northport rock group Wheatus.

After some welcome support, MC Lars really kicked off the show with his unique blend of laptop-hip-hop/videogame-rock. He played a 30 minute set which included; 'Hurricane Fresh', 'Mr. Raven', 'Signing Emo' and a duet with Wheatus' Brendan Brown on the track 'Download This Song'.

Wheatus were on for a longer duration and allowed the crowd to request songs. 'Truffles', 'Lemonade', 'Leroy', Erasure's 'A Little Respect', and of course the famous 'Teenage Dirtbag' among the songs played (plus One Direction). Both acts were fantastic, and though they have only had a brief UK tour together I'd love to see them again sometime.

The venue wasn't the largest but being a few feet from the bands added to the atmosphere, especially when Lars jumped down from the stage mid-song to get a pit going, though the crowd could've been better. There was plenty of room for merch, ordering drinks, viewing the bands, and there was even a separate seated area. I think that Warehouse 23 is a good little gig venue and more bands need to play there, MC Lars and Wheatus definitely get the 'thumbs up' from me.

Meeting Lars again was awesome

The Edgar Allan Poe EP is out now, along with Wheatus' Valentine LP.
